With the cost of living set to rise higher and higher this winter, we have put in place a number of measures to help our students through these hard times.

Free Breakfast and Lunch

As a Fife College student, you can benefit from a free breakfast on campus to ensure you start the day on the right foot.

You can choose from toast or cereals, with tea or coffee, so you will always have a hot meal and drink inside you before you start your studies. What’s more, we also offer hot breakfast rolls every Friday!

These are available at campus cafes between 8.30am and 9.30am every day during term time.

We have recently added a free lunch service for all students too.

On offer at each campus refectory, from 11.45am until 1.30pm, freshly made soup and rolls are also available to all students.

Free Bus Travel (under 22s)

Did you know that anyone living in Scotland under the age of 22 can benefit from free bus travel?

If you are a Fife College student aged 16 -21 and you already have an active National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot NEC card, then you can now update your current card online allowing you to access the free bus travel scheme. See details on the link below.

More information about the scheme and how to apply visit the Fife Council website or visit the Transport Scotland website.

FREE Gym Sessions

We have reopened the gym facilities on Kirkcaldy campus. which is free to all students and staff from all campuses. This also includes free group fitness classes. Induction is £5 followed by a free membership! Our games hall is available to book for slots.

Help with Hardship Funds

Guidance

Our Guidance team can also help advise students on their eligibility for hardship funds, grocery shop vouchers and even support from Foodbanks.

Student Funding

We have a Student Funding team who can help provide advice on any number of funding support options (assistance with childcare, disability support, assistance with rent/mortgage, etc).

Warm Spaces

We want to make sure that our students have somewhere warm to study, and to help save students from having to use too much of their own gas and electricity. We have therefore designated our libraries as “warm spaces”. Our libraries are available at all campuses and are open all day, and on some days they are open into the evening too.

YoungScot

Did you know that YoungScot cards (NEC) have a number of discounts available for when you are a student? Did you also know that YoungScot have a wide variety of help available to young people looking for support during the Cost of Living Crisis? Read here for more information.

FREE Devices

As a Fife College student, you will be able to access several digital resources.

Drop-in PCs and Chromebooks for research and study are available when you are in the library. Chromebooks are also available on a 7-day loan to take home, as many times as you need throughout the academic year. SIM cards (through Vodafone) are available, free of charge, to take from the library with 30GB data. Plus any Wi-Fi/digital worries can be helped through our Helpdesk.

Health and Wellbeing

Our Guidance and Attendance teams are available across all five Fife College campuses. As a Fife College student, you can make an appointment to see one of our advisors in private to talk to us about any issues that may arise: this can include any personal issues, financial concerns, on-going support and exit guidance for when you progress to further study or employment. All appointments are treated with respect and confidentiality.

FREE Haircuts

Students can have free haircuts from our beauty students! Go along to our beauty reception areas to enquire.

Student Scholarships

Our Adam Smith Scholarship fund was created to provide support to students by developing opportunities, opening doors and helping to transform lives.

We work in partnership with businesses, charitable trusts and individual donors to provide financial awards – which can range from £25 to £1,000 – to help students to achieve their full potential.
