COURSE INFORMATION
This course is ideal for you if you are starting out in engineering as it provides practical training and focuses on improving broad-based practical skills and knowledge with a hands-on approach. Practical skills covered include assembly, fitting, and engineering drawing using a project based learning model. You will gain SQA Engineering skills units, practical experience and case studies of real life situations and problems you could encounter in an engineering job role. The course is open to both school leavers and those looking to change or further their careers. It is also suitable as a refresher course for updating engineering skills and for those wanting to learn new skills. You will learn how to work effectively and safely. In addition to the practical skills you will develop, you will also improve your employability through the enhancement of your communication, numeracy, and information technology abilities. The design principles of this course are to allow you to progress on to higher levels of engineering based and related courses and/or employment.

- Three National 4s in English, Maths, and preferably Physics or Engineering Science, or a qualification to this standard in a craft or technology subject.
- If you are able to demonstrate a keen interest and aptitude for engineering and are willing and have the ability to develop your practical and hands-on engineering skills, you may also be considered.
- You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise.
- Subject to successful completion of this course, you may progress to higher levels of study within engineering at Fife College or into employment.
Completion of this course of study and further courses can provide a stepping stone and lead to modern apprenticeships or employment as a trainee in a wide range of engineering and technology enabled sectors
