COURSE INFORMATION

The course will consist of the internal units physics waves and radiation, dynamics and space, electricity and energy. These will be assessed individually to allow you to achieve each individual unit. The practical assignment will consist of a written submission and a assessed practical laboratory. Finally, a prelim (for appeal purposes) and the final SQA exam. This course will run over a full academic year with weekly 4 hours online timetabled classes provided. You will be expected to complete the same numbers of weekly hours in self study to support the online tutor-supported timetabled hours.

  • Physics is the study of matter, energy and the interaction between them. This entails asking fundamental questions and trying to answer them by observing and experimenting. The answers to such questions can lead to advances in our understanding of the world around us and often result in technological improvements which enhance the lives of all.
  • You will gain an understanding of physics and develop this through a variety of approaches, including practical activities, investigations and problem solving. You will research topics, apply scientific skills and communicate information related to their findings, which develops skills of scientific literacy.
  • This is a 1 academic year part time distance course.
  • Timetabled hours will be 4 per week in the evening. Specific days to be confirmed.
  • You will learn physics theory commensurate to SQA Level 5, along with laboratory practical skills.
  • Meta skill such as communication, problem solving, team work and time management will also be evident in delivery.
  • ICT skills will be developed during the online delivery.
  • National 4 Physics and National 4 Mathematics.
  • Higher Physics.
  • Industrial employment within the science field, including lab research, teaching or respective science-related industries.
  • Course cost of £360.
