Prince's Trust Team 57 celebrate the end of their course with a Christmas theme.

Fife College’s Prince’s Trust students marked the end of their course recently by showcasing their very own Christmas themed event to celebrate their achievements and thank those who have supported them along the way.

The special celebration event for Team 57 was held at the College’s Stenton Campus in Glenrothes, which marked the successful completion of the team’s 12 week personal development course.

At the event the students were presented with a range of certificates for subjects they had completed by Dorothée Leslie, Vice Principal, Academic Strategy.

The students, wearing their festive Christmas jumpers, spoke about their fundraising community projects including work they carried out for Home-Start Glenrothes to help create a fun and child friendly garden.

Each of the students also made their own individual presentation to explain to the audience what the programme meant to them.

Over 800 young people have been recruited on to the Prince’s Trust programme over the past 16 years helping them build confidence and gain skills to turn their lives around.

Prince’s Trust student, Daniel Sheeran (18) from Freuchie has enjoyed the course which has helped him build his confidence and make new friends. Said Daniel: “I really enjoyed my time at my work placement at the Pet Shop in Kirkcaldy. It was amazing to be around the animals and learn all about them. When I first started this course I found it hard to get comfortable and talk to people, but after the residential I felt less awkward. I have gained a lot of valuable confidence which I aim to improve. I am going on to another course after this one to improve my maths skills.”

The Team Programme is run by Fife College in conjunction with the Prince’s Trust for those aged 16-25 who are looking for a brighter future. It offers the opportunity to improve motivation, qualifications, confidence and existing talents while learning new skills. The course includes a community project, team building residential, work placement and CV writing and job application workshops.

Applications are now open for Prince's Trust programmes starting in 2019.
