Fife College student Kelly Braid has become the latest recipient of the prestigious Ede & Ravenscroft scholarship which recognises creativity, innovation and passion.

Kelly, from Kirkcaldy, was awarded the scholarship from the Adam Smith Foundation – funded by the College’s official graduation robe supplier, Ede & Ravenscroft.

The scholarship is a cash award which is used by students for materials and equipment to enhance their studies and student experience.  Kelly, who plans to go on to study Fashion Communications at Heriot-Watt University, will use funds awarded to her to help purchase a camera.

The HND Fashion Design & Production with Retail student was presented with her scholarship by Bryan McCabe-Bell, Director of Business, Enterprise and Tourism, Christine Robson, Fashion Lecturer, and Gaynor Jamieson, Trust Fundraiser, at the College’s Stenton Campus recently.

Kelly said: “I was really happy to receive the scholarship award.  It will make a real difference to my studies and also really motivate me to kick on.”

Christine Robson, Fashion Lecturer at Fife College, said: “I was delighted to hear that Kelly’s application for the Ede & Ravenscroft Scholarship was successful.  Kelly is a credit to the department and has shown great commitment to her course.  Creative and very talented, she has been a valuable member of the class, helping to bring other people on as well developing herself.”

Gaynor Jamieson, Trust Fundraiser, said: “We are very grateful to the generosity of Ede & Ravenscroft by offering this award in recognition of achievement and I am delighted that this scholarship award will have an immediate impact on Kelly’s academic life.

"Kelly has demonstrated a real passion for the fashion industry and her commitment to her studies is highly commendable. The Adam Smith Foundation wishes Kelly the very best in the next steps of her career progression and looks forward to continuing to work with Ede & Ravenscroft in the future.”

Ede & Ravenscroft has been the tailor and robemaker of choice for twelve coronations and today the firm continues to service royalty, the judiciary, civic authorities, academia, and business.

Francis Ravenscroft was inspired by his father's passionate belief in education and helping others to further themselves. Ede & Ravenscroft has a long history of supporting students by offering annual awards in recognition of achievements.
