Fife College staff member Craig Walker was celebrating after being awarded the title of College Colleague of the Year at this year’s College Development Network (CDN) Awards.
Craig, who is Manager of the Fife College Students’ Association (FCSA), picked up the award virtually during an online ceremony which also saw the College commended in two other categories.
The College’s ground-breaking link-up with Historic Scotland, which integrated digital skills with traditional craft skills, was highly commended in the Innovation category, while partnership work with Fife Council was also commended in the Employer Connections category.
The award for Craig, from Kelty, recognised his work over the last few years which has led to a rise in student engagement across the College as well as an increase in Student Officers across College campuses.
Judges at the awards were also impressed with innovative processes implemented by Craig and his team which have made the Students’ Association more inclusive.
The CDN Awards, which were held online this year due to the pandemic, recognise the talent, skills and achievement of Scotland’s colleges, their staff and their learners.
Commenting on his award win, which follows his Staff Member of the Year award at last year’s National Union of Students (NUS) Scotland Awards, Craig said:
“I am really thrilled to win the College Colleague of the Year Award. I definitely would not have received this kind of recognition without the amazing support and encouragement of the brilliant people I work with every day in the students' association and at the College.
“I am so proud of the work we do at the FCSA, even more so this year with the challenges we have faced due to the pandemic. From virtual freshers to online award ceremonies, I’m delighted that we have been able to continue to support and celebrate students across the College, and I’m excited to see what more we can achieve together in the future.”
