COURSE INFORMATION

Transform your passion for sport, coaching and fitness into a rewarding career supporting and motivating others to develop and realise their potential. This course will introduce and develop the knowledge and skills required for progression to HN Fitness, Health and Exercise.  This will include a range of practical and theoretical units encompassing fitness industry practice, knowledge of nutrition and exercise psychology, and conditioning for sport.  The course also includes a certified National Progression Award in Exercise and Fitness Leadership.

(Please note this course is specifically for those wishing to enter the fitness industry)
  • You will develop knowledge and skills in planning, implementing and evaluating aspects of the Sport and Fitness Industry. You will also develop your transferrable skills for education, training and work as well as study skills and skills in investigating aspects of the industry.

External Candidates

One of the following:

  • 4 National 5’s at C or above
  • A sport and fitness related course at SCQF Level 5
  • or
  • Relevant industry experience and/or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

PLUS

  • You may need a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland in order to go out on the placement(s) as part of this course

Internal Candidates

  • Intermediate Certificate: Sport and Fitness (minimum of 13 assessed credits)
  • You will need a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland in order to go out on the placement(s) as part of this course
  • Positive ILR
  • HNC/D: Fitness, Health and Exercise SCQF Level 7
  • University courses related to Sport, Fitness, Health & Wellbeing
  • Fitness/ Gym assistant
  • Active Schools assistant
  • Sport development assistant
  • Health development specialist
  • Leisure attendant
  • Community/youth work

With further qualifications the following careers may be available to you you

  • Fitness instructor 
  • Personal trainer
  • Sport and fitness related kit is required to take part in practical activities, such as trainers, tracksuit bottoms, training tops, and shorts
  • You will be provided with a Fife College polo shirt, used for leading clients or client groups
