A scholarship fund, donated by Internet Creations, and awarded through the Adam Smith Foundation, has been awarded to Fife College student Ross Kinninmont.

HND Web Development student Ross (20), from Leven, has been awarded £500 and a work placement opportunity by Internet Creations, a creative digital agency based in Roysth.

The scholarship is open to those who are studying: HND Web Development (incorporating Mobile Application Development) Year 1 & 2 and BSc Web Design and Development (incorporating Mobile Application Development) Level 9.

As part of the scholarship application students had to provide a project plan for a web or mobile project they had been working on.  Ross’ project, to build a website for a local business as part of his graded course unit, really impressed Internet Creations’ Commercial Director Ian Palteil at the scholarship interviews.

Ross, said: “I’m delighted to receive the scholarship from Ian and Internet Creations - it’s a real confidence booster.  The funds will make a big difference to me and I’m really excited by the work placement opportunity too.”

Ross plans to use scholarship funds to attend a coding convention in London and buy software and other equipment to aid his studies.

Ian Paltiel, Commercial Director at Internet Creation Ltd, said: “It’s really great to offer this scholarship through the Adam Smith Foundation.

“Ross was a standout at the interviews in terms of how well prepared he was and how he presented himself.  He is thoroughly deserving of the scholarship and we look forward to welcoming him to our offices in the near future for his work placement.”

Since Internet Creation Ltd. was formed in 2000, it has expanded to offer complete web solutions to businesses throughout Scotland and the UK.  Services offered by the company include website design and development, site maintenance, digital marketing, graphics design and branding, web hosting, mobile apps development, and e-commerce.

The new scholarship from Internet Creations has been introduced with the aim of providing support with progression to further studies or employment.

Supported by Fife College, The Adam Smith Foundation scholarship programme was created to support College students through the development of opportunities which help open doors and transform lives.

Through partnership with businesses, charitable trusts and individual donors, the Foundation has developed a Scholarship Programme which provides recognition, a financial award, and in some cases, work experience, internships and trips to support and encourage students to achieve their full potential.
